Brora is one of Britain’s best-loved and most successful modern cashmere brands. Established in 1993, we have steadily grown into a fully-fledged fashion label with our own distinctive viewpoint – highly individual, subtle, immensely wearable and mainly British made.
Scottish cashmere is still at Brora’s heart, but every season our Founder & Creative Director, Victoria Stapleton creates a range of timeless clothing to build a complete wardrobe using only the finest fabrics, such as tweed, silk, wool and linen. The vast majority of our collections are made from natural fibres which hold antibacterial properties. Wearing garments made from these means less and lower temperature washing.
Brora is not about fast fashion. Rather than mass-producing and relying heavily on big discount events, we believe that people should think about buying fewer, timeless, and high-quality items that last – and can be enjoyed for more than one season. With that in mind, Brora creates designs that can be worn with pride, for many years to come.
The company is 100% privately owned and the business focus is determinedly ‘Buy British’, the key element being that all our cashmere is made in Scotland to the highest possible standards. By supporting British manufacturing, we can react to customer demand quickly and deal with each of our suppliers personally to build outstanding relationships with them.
We want to bring the best products of the highest quality to our customers. To that end, a small percentage of Brora designs are not made in the UK. When we source abroad, we use suppliers that are specialists in their field. All must agree to our code of conduct, and we are clear on the importance of health and safety, worker welfare and environmental impact.
To the present day, we remain true to our quirky, slightly vintage-inspired self, while moving with the turn of fashion’s wheel each season. We now have several shops throughout the UK and an international store on New York’s Madison Avenue.
