Brora & Conservation Collective
Conservation Collective is an environmental charity dedicated to protecting and restoring the wild places we know and love. Since 2020, the charity has launched, funded and grown more than 20 locally led foundations, providing vital funding and support to highly effective local groups where it creates the greatest impact: at the grassroots level. Their work spans the globe, supporting more than 600 projects across the Mediterranean, St Vincent, Sri Lanka and closer to home, Scotland.
We have long admired Conservation Collective and the tireless environmental work they carry out; we have always looked for ways to help raise funds for the many foundations they support. This year, alongside creating a limited-edition cashmere check scarf, with 10% of proceeds donated to the Scotland-based Highlands & Islands Environment Foundation, we also had the pleasure of sponsoring Conservation Collective’s Awards and attending their annual Global Gathering in the Scottish Highlands.
Conservation Collective Global Gathering & Awards
The Global Gathering provides an opportunity for the many foundations supported by Conservation Collective to come together, explore opportunities for collaboration, and share learnings and successes. The awards also celebrate the remarkable achievements of Conservation Collective’s locally led foundations around the world.
This year’s annual gathering and celebration took place on the picturesque Ardtornish Estate, on the shores of Loch Aline in Scotland, a fitting location given its role as an active restoration site. Although we didn’t manage to spot any of the newly released red squirrels during our visit, we did see the newly introduced wild ponies from the Calamhor Herd and took part in planting hazelnut saplings.
The event also provided a wonderful opportunity to meet the team from the Highlands and Islands Environment Foundation and experience some of the grassroots projects they support. Following the trip, the Brora team was proud to launch a limited-edition cashmere check scarf, with 10% of proceeds donated to the foundation.
