I love how a tank top works in the change seasons, over a shirt or a t-shirt as late summer evenings get a hint of chilliness (or, later, over another sweater in the depths of winter!). The weather this summer in Orkney never hit the crazy heatwaves of down south – we had a cool, grey and misty summer with just a few short weeks of blissful hot days in between. But it’s always intense here – we get 18 hours of daylight in the height of summer, so everything in the garden grows at supersonic speed. Last summer we had a massive 100-mile-an-hour storm in the first week of August. The following week, blasted by salt spray, all the leaves on the trees turned
brown and dropped!

One of my favourite pieces in the collection is the Wool Donegal Textured Stripe Jumper – it’s got something simple and robust about it that I love. The wool is soft but the deep brown has a timeless sense. The stripes feel like something someone might have knitted with some spare wool in the 19th century.
